Dr. Maria C. Cuellar recently joined the Planet B.io team as Science and Technology officer.
Maria is a Bioprocess engineer, with a focus on bioprocess integration and with sustainability as purpose. She has a vast experience in formulating and leading projects both in industry and academia. Maria will take responsibility on all activities within Planet B.io that require technical and scaleup knowledge.

Carbon dioxide recycling company Deep Branch joins Planet B.io
Planet B.io is proud to announce that biotech company Deep Branch has joined the scale-up ecosystem on Biotech Campus Delft. Deep Branch, founded in the UK, is a perfect fit for Planet B.io with its cutting-edge CO2-to-protein fermentation technology. With this technology, Deep Branch addresses both the sustainability of animal farming and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, creating a scalable path for a sustainable protein generation process from a waste product.
Avansya | The future is sweet for Delft and Nebraska partnership
Energy drinks, cookies, drinking yogurt and even breakfast cereals. Sugar makes its way into everything. It’s time for a healthier alternative with a natural sweet taste and without the excess calories. To this end, DSM and Cargill are working together in the joint venture Avansya, which is located with Planet B.io. A new plant in Blair, Nebraska (US) is now producing the stevia-based EVERSWEET®. CEO Oscar Goddijn sees global opportunities for their innovative sweetener: “This is the beginning of a new voyage of discovery.”
SPEKTRAX develops groundbreaking virus test
A reliable result within a few minutes. Available all over the world. Coronavirus, but also influenza and Zika, are causing an explosion in the need for rapid and affordable tests. This need is being met with laser technology, nanotechnology and software. At the Biotech Campus Delft, SPEKTRAX is working on a test that will help the world deal with virus crises. “The whole team is eager to be fully operational as soon as possible,” says co-founder Eva Rennen.
