Invest & Innovate in the greater Rotterdam – The Hague area

Sustainably strengthening the economic structure and unlocking the innovative capacity of the Province of South Holland.
InnovationQuarter is the regional development agency for the province of Zuid-Holland, also known as the greater Rotterdam – The Hague area. InnovationQuarter finances innovative and fast-growing companies, assists international companies in establishing their businesses in our region, and facilitates (international) collaboration between innovative entrepreneurs, knowledge institutes and government.
In this way, and in cooperation with the business community, InnovationQuarter supports the development of the greater Rotterdam – The Hague area to become among the most innovative regions in Europe. A sector which is of great importance to the region is the biobased economy. InnovationQuarter helps to connect and link different parties in the biobased ecosystem, provide coaching to companies that are in the start-up/scale-up phase, help with the identification and raising of funding both public or private. In addition to identifying funding InnovationQuarter can also directly invest from one of it’s own funds IQ Capital, UNIQ or ENERGIQ. InnovationQuarter can also introduce companies to the dynamic Fieldlab ecosystem which has its own subsidy program, Innovatieprogramma Energie & Klimaat. Finally InnovationQuarter can help with scaling up towards the port of Rotterdam, an area which is known for its biobased companies.
InnovationQuarter is supported by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy, the Province of Zuid-Holland, Metropolitan region Rotterdam The Hague (MRDH); the Cities of Rotterdam, The Hague, Leiden, Delft, Drechtsteden, Westland and Zoetermeer, Delft; University of Technology (TU Delft), Leiden University, the Leiden University Medical Center and Erasmus MC; Foundation HEID (Holding Fund for Economic Investment The Hague) and the European Union.

Horizon: building the next wave of biotech growth at the Biotech Campus Delft
A new development is on the horizon for the Biotech Campus Delft. With the working title Horizon, ASR Dutch Science Park Fund, together with dsm-firmenich and Planet B.io, is taking the next step in further strengthening the campus as a leading European hub where biotech innovation, collaboration, and scale come together.
High-level Government visit highlights Delft's strategic role in future industrial biotech growth
On 11 March, Erwin Nijsse, Director-General at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, visited Planet B.io. The visit aligns well with the Netherlands’ evolving political and economic direction and therefore he was joined by a broad delegation of colleagues from several ministries.
