About Protein Port 

Protein Port is a Planet B.io initiative focused on accelerating the protein transition. We connect companies, researchers, investors, and public partners to address challenges in R&D, scaling, funding, commercialization, and policy. A core activity is organizing targeted roundtables that go beyond networking, bringing together the right people to create dialogue, define a shared vision, and enable collaboration. 

About the role

As Community & Event Manager, you are at the center of the Protein Port ecosystem. You connect stakeholders, facilitate meaningful interactions, and help translate conversations into concrete collaborations. Your focus is on organizing impactful events, strengthening the community, and communicating its value externally. 

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Organizing events and roundtables 
    •    Identify and engage key participants.
    •    
    Design and facilitate interactive sessions with clear outcomes.
    •    
    Ensure strong preparation, execution, and follow-up.
    •    
    Continuously improve event formats for impact and engagement. 

  1. Community building
    •    Maintain and grow relationships within the ecosystem.
    •    
    Organize informal gatherings to strengthen connections.
    •    
    Foster engagement and a sense of belonging. 

  1. Communication and marketing 
    •    Translate complex topics into clear, engaging content.
    •    
    Create written and visual materials showcasing impact.
    •    
    Manage website and LinkedIn presence.
    •    
    Support event promotion and community engagement.
    •    
    Help position Protein Port and Planet B.io as leaders in biotech-based alternative proteins.

     

Your profile

•    HBO/WO degree with up to ~3 years of experience (ideally in an innovation environment, experience with the food and/or biotechnology sector is a strong pre).
•    Experience with organizing events, workshops, or community activities .
•    Proactive, organized, and able to take ownership.
•    Strong communication and storytelling skills.
•    
Detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
•    
Comfortable working in a small, dynamic team.
•    
Fluent in English (Dutch is a plus).

Offer

•    0.8–1.0 FTE based on a 40 hour working week
•    
Salary range 40-50K on annual basis, including holiday pay.
•    One-year contract (with potential extension, subject to funding)
