Planet B.io and Biotech Booster launch Industrial Biotech Bootcamp

Planet B.io has joined forces with Biotech Booster to launch the very first Industrial Biotech Bootcamp, an intensive eight-week program designed to accelerate the next generation of industrial biotech ventures.

While many accelerator programs exist for deeptech or biotech for human health, early-stage industrial biotech startups face a unique set of challenges: long development cycles, capital-intensive operations, and complex regulatory pathways. This bootcamp has been created to address those hurdles head-on, equipping ambitious entrepreneurs with the tools, networks, and expertise they need to build an investor-ready business case.

A structured journey from idea to investor readiness

The program brings together ten carefully selected startups from across the Dutch biotech ecosystem. Over the course of four modules, participants will validate their value proposition, refine their technology roadmap and IP strategy, build robust financial models, and strengthen their team alignment. The methodology is built on the Innovation Readiness Level (IRL) framework, which helps startups assess and accelerate their maturity across six dimensions: customer, business model, technology, IP, team, and funding.

Each module consists of two days of intensive training and workshops at either Planet B.io in Delft or Biotech Booster in Utrecht, followed by tailored coaching sessions and validation work between modules. Along the way, participants will benefit from peer-to-peer learning, guidance from experienced coaches, and access to a wide network of industry experts, service partners, and investors.

Why this bootcamp matters

For both organizations, the bootcamp is a way to strengthen the ecosystem and give industrial biotech founders the dedicated support they need.

“At Planet B.io we are building Europe’s leading innovation campus specifically dedicated to industrial biotech,” says Jasper Driessen, Business Developer at Planet B.io. “Our mission is to support companies in their growth and provide a home base for founders who want to use biotechnology to improve planetary health. Through this program we can guide early-stage companies on their journey, while also giving them a taste of the facilities, support, and community that they could become part of here in Delft.”

Cornelis Mijnders, Cluster Manager of TC1 at Biotech Booster, adds: “At Biotech Booster, we recognize that industrial biotech propositions require specialized support. These ventures face unique challenges that make developing a viable business case particularly complex. This bootcamp is specifically designed to provide participants with targeted guidance, helping them build a compelling business case for our Level 2 funding.”

From Delft to Brussels

The bootcamp modules run from early October to mid-November, with a final at the Pitch Perfect event in Brussels. There, participants get the opportunity to present their investor-ready pitch decks to a high-profile audience of investors, corporates, and ecosystem partners.

Strengthening the industrial biotech ecosystem

By combining the complementary strengths of Planet B.io and Biotech Booster, the Industrial Biotech Bootcamp is filling an important gap in the innovation landscape. Together, we are creating a dedicated pathway for industrial biotech startups to overcome early-stage hurdles and increase their chances of making real market impact.

As the program unfolds, we look forward to sharing stories from the participating teams, the lessons they learn, and the progress they make toward becoming the industrial biotech leaders of tomorrow.
