From Idea to Innovation: The role of Planet B.io’s Shared Service and Education Labs
To drive innovation, growth, and education within the biotech sector, Planet B.io launched two new initiatives last year: the Shared Service Lab and the Education Lab, located at the heart of Biotech Campus Delft. We spoke with Fenneke Jolink, Project Manager, and Maartje Mikx, Education coordinator, to explore the journey and impact of these exciting projects.

Nu beschikbaar: Arbeidsmarktonderzoek Cellulaire Agricultuur
Om een beter inzicht te krijgen in de behoeften van bedrijven in de Cellulaire Agricultuur-sector, heeft Planet B.io, in samenwerking met Cellulaire Agricultuur Nederland, een arbeidsmarktonderzoek uitgevoerd. Dit onderzoek biedt een overzicht van de huidige CA arbeidsmarkt, de aansluiting op het huidige Nederlandse onderwijs, en geeft richting naar de toekomst.
Planet B.io in the news: Biotech Campus Delft: straks broedplaats voor 5.000 mensen
Vorige week berichtte dsm-firmenich dat de Gistfabriek in Delft eind 2025 gaat sluiten. Naast het begrijpelijk sentiment en de weemoed daarover: Er gloort ook iets nieuws op het terrein van de oude arbeidersfabriek langs de Schie. Hier ontwikkelt zich een ultramodern innovatiecentrum op het gebied van biotechnologie. Daarachter schuilt een bedrijfsfilosofie, die met haar streven naar duurzaam gemaakte producten opmerkelijke overeenkomsten vertoont met de oude maatschappelijke idealen van Gistfabriek-oprichters Jacques en Agneta van Marken-Matthes.
2024 dsm-firmenich Kickstart Prize
On the 12th of April, ExCulture won the dsm-firmenich Kickstart Prize, worth €50,000. The prize will help them to further develop their concept of mixed culture production of heparin. The Kickstart Prize is part of a larger grant provided by dsm-firmenich, that aims to support the collaboration between the TU Delft and dsm-firmenich, with a particular goal to support the growth of the innovation ecosystem at the Biotech Campus Delft. Planet B.io, the organisation that manages this ecosystem, is responsible for the identification of value-adding initiatives that can make the best use of the grant.
Interview | Bram Kerssemakers - Programme Manager Protein Port
Bram Kerssemakers recently joined the Planet B.io team as Programme Manager Protein Port. He will take responsibility on all activities within Protein Port, a network of companies, institutes and educational institutions aimed at strengthening and accelerating the protein transition. We had a talk with Bram about his career and experience.
Plant One new owner of Bioprocess Pilot Facility at Biotech Campus Delft
Plant One, an established pilot plant company specialized in sustainable production processes, will be the new owner of the Bioprocess Pilot Facility at Biotech Campus Delft. Plant One will further develop the current bioprocess facility into a full-service pilot plant for companies active in biobased and/or biotechnology processes, from SME's to multinationals. The deal was signed at the Biotech Campus Delft earlier today.
Innovation boost for the Biotech Campus Delft
The province of South Holland has allocated a financial contribution of € 3 million via the Opportunities for West program, to several innovation campuses in the region, including the Biotech Campus Delft! These campuses bring together an innovation ecosystem in which companies and knowledge institutions work together. They play an essential role in realizing the ambitions in the Growth Agenda South Holland, stimulating innovation, creating new business and reducing CO2. The money is intended to strengthen the campuses and increase cooperation with SME parties. In addition, the grant promotes cooperation between the innovation campuses.
